i’m just gonna drop the whole quote here before y’all accuse me of plagiarism.

“some part of our being knows this is where we came from. we long to return. and we can, because the cosmos is also within us. we’re made of star stuff. we are a way for the cosmos to know itself.” – carl sagan (super smart science man)

sedna: supernovae are so powerful, they fuse atoms together to form heavier elements even stars can’t create.

sedna: most of the heavy elements in the universe come from supernovae. cobalt in computers, calcium in ice cream, phosphorus in our d.n.a, are all forged in the heart of a dying star billions of years ago.

sedna: so technically, we are all made of star stuff, and finding a supernova is like looking back at our ancient ancestors.

sedna: …which is why when we have grandkids, we should take them supernova hunting at least once three times a year.
