I’m really enjoying your comics. I’ve read them all and have chosen this one for my first comment on the series to date.

Your style strongly reminds me of Bill Watterson’s Calvin & Hobbes. (That’s a massive compliment.) Your frequent use of the 3 panels of imagination followed by one of reality to highlight the kids lost in play is magical. The single panel, large format, color comics are outstanding. These are the types of comics that I largely thought artists no longer bothered to draw. I have already added Sedna to my RSS reader to make sure that I do not miss any of your upcoming work.

I would like to make one request. Please consider colorizing all of your comics. I know that this request likely involves much additional work for you. However, the dynamic and imaginative world of Sedna and Dini would come across even more impressively in a bright, vibrant pallet, particularly if the reality panels were colorized in a (slightly?) more subdued pallet. It’s just an idea from one fan, so do with it what you will. It won’t stop me from reading your comic either way.

Hey mate, sorry for the belated reply.

Yeah, I get a lot of C&H comparisons. It’s a tough balancing act trying to recapture Watterson’s magic while keeping a unique identity for Sedna and not just being another C&H ripoff. Glad you enjoy it though. :3

I have thought about colourising each comic. Initially I decided against it due to the amount of time it would take (especially for me, as I’m an inexperienced illustrator and take a long time to decide on a colour palette) and the increased print cost if it ever gets published (as I hope parents will buy it for their kids), but I compromised by having one colour illustration every 10-ish comics, while keeping it black and white to give myself enough time to do 3 updates/week. Given how small my audience is though, I’m starting to wonder if you’re right and I made the wrong decision. XD

Maybe if Sedna ever becomes financially sustainable for me (via Patreon or whatever) it might be worth going back and colourising them or hiring someone else to do it. Guess we’ll see.
